LEGO has officially unveiled its most ambitious The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King inspired set yet. The massive LEGO Minas Tirith set brings the legendary White City of Gondor to life with an incredible 8,278 pieces. Fans of The Lord of the Rings now have the chance to build one of Middle-earth’s most iconic locations in stunning detail.
The new set surpasses previous LEGO Lord of the Rings releases, including Rivendell and Barad-dûr. It now stands as the biggest Lord of the Rings LEGO set ever created. The model also ranks among the largest LEGO sets of all time.
A Massive Build Inspired by Gondor
The Minas Tirith set recreates the capital city of Gondor from The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. The build captures the city’s famous layered structure that rises against Mount Mindolluin. LEGO designed the outer city in microscale to showcase the enormous walls, towers, and streets of the White City.
The completed set measures over 23.5 inches high, 24.5 inches wide, and 14.5 inches deep. The detailed exterior displays every ring of the city, from the main gate to the upper court where the White Tree stands proudly.
Unlike many display-only LEGO models, Minas Tirith also includes playable interior sections. Builders can open the lower walls and rotate the structure to reveal minifigure-scale rooms inside the city. The highlight is the Tower Hall throne room where Denethor ruled as Steward of Gondor before Aragorn’s return.
Detailed Minifigures Bring Middle-earth to Life
The set includes 10 minifigures inspired by major characters from the films. Fans will find Gandalf the White with Shadowfax, Aragorn in his royal coronation armor, Faramir, Denethor, Peregrin Took, and Arwen carrying the royal banner.
Four Soldiers of Gondor complete the lineup with detailed shields, helmets, and spears. LEGO also included themed accessories that recreate famous scenes from the films. One standout detail is Denethor’s cherry tomatoes, referencing his memorable scene during the siege of Minas Tirith.
The minifigure selection has already generated excitement among collectors because Aragorn’s coronation outfit has never appeared in LEGO form before.
LEGO Combines Display and Play Features
One of the most impressive aspects of the set is its hybrid design. LEGO blended microscale architecture with minifigure-scale interiors to balance realism and playability. The city looks enormous from the outside, yet key scenes remain accessible for storytelling and display.
This approach differs from earlier LEGO Lord of the Rings sets. Rivendell focused heavily on room interiors, while Barad-dûr mixed display and play features. Minas Tirith takes a more cinematic approach by emphasizing the scale of Gondor’s legendary capital.
The set also celebrates the 25th anniversary of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, making it an important release for longtime Tolkien fans.

Release Date and Pricing Details
LEGO will launch Minas Tirith on June 1, 2026, for LEGO Insiders members. The general public release follows on June 4, 2026. The set carries a premium price tag of $649.99, making it the most expensive LEGO Lord of the Rings set ever released.
Despite the high cost, collectors are expected to rush for the set because of its limited launch bonuses and exclusive content.

Exclusive Grond Gift With Purchase
LEGO will also offer a special Gift With Purchase set called Grond for early buyers. Grond is the enormous battering ram used by Sauron’s forces during the Battle of the Pelennor Fields.
The bonus set includes two Mordor Orc minifigures and recreates one of the most famous siege weapons from Middle-earth lore. Fans who purchase Minas Tirith during the first week of release can receive the Grond set while supplies last.
Collectors already expect the bonus set to sell out quickly due to strong demand from Lord of the Rings fans worldwide.
