Hoover first informed fans about her diagnosis in December through a private Facebook fan group, according to reporting by People. In that message, she explained that she delayed addressing recurring health issues while working on the film adaptation of Reminders of Him in Canada.
After filming wrapped and she returned home, Hoover sought medical care and received her diagnosis. Doctors removed the cancer surgically and prescribed radiation as a precautionary follow-up.
