Lola Consuelos has always felt deeply connected to music. Growing up in New York City, she was surrounded by a melting pot of cultures, sounds, and creative energy that shaped her artistic instincts early on. According to Consuelos, music was never just a hobby—it was a constant presence in her daily life.
“I was always singing,” she recalls. “I’d even sing full sentences, which was probably annoying to everyone around me.” Alongside that habit came a strong love for Broadway and performance. Whether at the dinner table or on a small stage in her imagination, it became clear from a young age that music would play a major role in her future.
A Debut Sparked by an Organic Collaboration
Consuelos officially introduced herself as an artist in 2022 with her debut track, “Paranoia Silverlining,” featuring JoJo. Interestingly, the collaboration happened naturally. JoJo was her boyfriend’s roommate and close friend, and after hearing him sing around the apartment, she recognized his talent immediately.
During one studio session, she invited him along just to feel out the creative atmosphere. At first, she worried he wasn’t impressed. However, her doubts faded when JoJo surprised her with lyrics he had written specifically for the track. What started as a casual suggestion turned into him stepping into the recording booth—his first time ever doing so. That moment helped shape the song and marked a meaningful creative milestone for both artists.
Sorry, It’s All About Me: A Turning Point
Consuelos’ debut EP, Sorry, It’s All About Me, represents a major shift in her songwriting approach. While she feels excited for listeners to finally hear the project, the EP also reflects a personal evolution.
In earlier releases, she intentionally kept her lyrics vague, avoiding specifics to protect both herself and others. This time, however, she chose honesty over caution. With the support of her co-writers, she felt safe enough to be direct, intentional, and emotionally open.
Surprisingly, the process felt less overwhelming than expected. While revisiting past experiences could be triggering at times, turning those emotions into music proved therapeutic. Writing these songs helped her feel lighter, more connected, and more grounded in her identity as an artist.
The Meaning Behind the EP Title
The EP title, Sorry, It’s All About Me, carries a sense of sarcasm and self-awareness. After years of holding back, Consuelos leaned fully into telling her own story—without apology.
For her, the title symbolizes liberation. It reflects the shift from silence to self-expression, almost as if she’s saying, “I never said this before, but now I am.” That boldness defines the project and reinforces the honesty embedded in every track.
Songwriting as Therapy
For Consuelos, songwriting often feels like a therapy session—except instead of a doctor, she’s surrounded by co-writers her own age. Many sessions begin with long conversations where emotions, frustrations, and inspirations naturally surface.
She frequently brings in journal entries filled with thoughts, moments of joy, and everyday anxieties. These real-life reflections often become the foundation for her lyrics. Although her creative process isn’t always linear, trust and comfort in the room allow her to be vulnerable, which ultimately leads to more authentic music.

Musical Influences and Emotional Themes
Amy Winehouse stands out as one of Consuelos’ biggest influences, particularly because of their similar vocal tones. As she’s grown older, she’s also developed a deep appreciation for Winehouse’s raw, fearless songwriting. Additionally, Lily Allen has been a consistent source of inspiration.
Throughout the EP, Consuelos explores themes such as anxiety, self-doubt, and insecurity. Importantly, she emphasizes that listeners experiencing similar emotions are not alone. Writing things down, she believes, helps challenge negative thought patterns and brings clarity during moments of emotional overwhelm.
A Standout Track: “Hypochondriac”
Choosing a favorite song wasn’t easy, but “Hypochondriac” holds special meaning for Consuelos. The track was born from a conversation about anxiety—specifically the confusion of feeling deeply anxious despite living a blessed life.
Rather than dismissing those feelings, the songwriting process allowed her to explore them compassionately. The result is a song that acknowledges anxiety while also reminding listeners of gratitude, perspective, and self-awareness.
Looking Ahead to 2026
Ultimately, Consuelos hopes listeners feel empowered to share their own stories after hearing the EP. If her music can help someone feel understood or less alone, she considers the project a success.
Looking ahead, she’s manifesting live performances in 2026, new music, and a full-length album currently in development. With excitement and confidence, Consuelos is stepping fully into her artistry—unfiltered, honest, and unapologetically herself.
