Country music legend Dolly Parton was laid to rest in a private burial in Nashville on Friday, three days after her death at age 80. Her family held the intimate ceremony away from the public spotlight.
Parton’s niece, Lainey Mae Parton, shared news of the burial on social media Saturday. She also posted an emotional tribute to the legendary singer, songwriter, actress and philanthropist.
Dolly Parton’s Family Remembers Her
Lainey Mae described her aunt as a loving and supportive figure who always made her feel valued.
In an emotional Instagram post, she recalled how Parton supported her from childhood. Lainey Mae said her grandmother believed in her long before she learned to believe in herself.
She also highlighted the special relationship Parton shared with her nieces and nephews.
“Because she couldn’t have kids of her own, she always made us feel like we were hers,” Lainey Mae wrote. She added that Parton loved the family deeply and that she would remain grateful for that love.
Parton did not have children of her own. However, she built a strong bond with younger members of her extended family throughout her life.
