American fitness influencer and bodybuilder Connor Michael Murphy has died after drowning in a lake at a luxury housing estate in Thailand. The 32-year-old social media personality, known for his bodybuilding content and viral fitness videos, reportedly entered the water after displaying unusual behavior. Thai authorities have launched an investigation while awaiting autopsy and toxicology results.

What Happened to Connor Murphy?
The tragedy unfolded on July 7 in Bang Phli district, Samut Prakan, near Bangkok.
According to Thai police and local witnesses, Murphy arrived at the entrance of a luxury residential estate in a hired vehicle during the afternoon. Security guards reported that he appeared distressed and behaved unpredictably.
Witnesses said he shouted loudly, rolled on the ground, and raised his hands as if praying. A taxi driver allegedly refused to accept payment because of Murphy’s unusual actions. Shortly afterward, police arrived at the scene after receiving reports about his behavior.
Instead of remaining at the entrance, Murphy suddenly ran toward a nearby lake inside the estate and jumped into the water.
Rescue Efforts End in Tragedy
Witnesses said Murphy initially swam across the lake but soon appeared exhausted. The lake was reported to be more than 10 meters deep, preventing bystanders from attempting a rescue.
Emergency responders and rescue divers quickly reached the location. After searching for approximately 30 minutes, divers recovered Murphy’s body about 20 meters from the shoreline.
Police stated that there were no obvious signs of assault or external injuries apart from minor abrasions believed to have occurred before he entered the lake. Authorities believe drowning was the likely cause of death, although the final determination will depend on post-mortem examinations.
Luxury Rental Home Found Vandalized
Investigators later searched the luxury lakeside property where Murphy had been living with his girlfriend.
Police discovered paint splashed across walls, floors, furniture, and household appliances throughout the home. The property owner described the damage as extensive and said the house, valued at approximately 22 million baht, had been rented for around 35,000 baht per month.
The homeowner expressed shock, explaining that the tenants had passed the screening process before moving into the residence about three months earlier.

Girlfriend Describes Sudden Change in Behavior
Murphy’s 22-year-old girlfriend told investigators that they had been together for around three years. Although they previously lived separately, they had recently begun living together again.
She told police that Murphy had never shown similar behavior before. According to her statement, the vandalism occurred overnight while she was asleep. She said she did not know what caused his sudden change and stated she had never seen him use illegal drugs.
Authorities also searched Murphy’s vehicle and reportedly found two unused syringes and several unidentified white tablets. Toxicology tests have been ordered to determine whether any substances played a role in the incident. Investigators emphasized that no conclusions have been reached while laboratory examinations remain ongoing.
