The White Lotus Season 4 to Film at Château de La Messardière on the French Riviera

HBO’s acclaimed anthology series The White Lotus is preparing to enter a new era of luxury, intrigue, and satire as Season 4 moves closer to production. While creator Mike White continues writing the highly anticipated scripts, Variety has revealed a major filming location that signals a bold new visual direction for the show.

Season 4 will film at the iconic Château de La Messardière, a 19th-century palace-turned-luxury hotel located in Saint-Tropez along the glamorous Côte d’Azur. This historic property promises to deliver the opulence and exclusivity that have become hallmarks of the series.

A French Riviera Backdrop for Season 4

Château de La Messardière sits on 32 acres filled with parasol pines, cypress trees, and fragrant jasmine gardens. The hotel blends old-world elegance with modern luxury, making it a natural fit for The White Lotus universe. The estate belongs to the prestigious Cranberry Collection, which owns several five-star properties across France.

Filming Schedule and Additional Locations

Production for Season 4 will begin in late April and run through October. As in previous seasons, Mike White plans to use multiple locations rather than relying on a single property. This approach allows the series to create a layered and immersive fictional resort experience.

In addition to Saint-Tropez, the story will unfold across the French Riviera, with select scenes filmed at a luxury hotel in Paris. This marks the first time the series will explore mainland France, following earlier seasons set in Hawaii, Sicily, and Thailand.

Cannes Film Festival May Shape the Storyline

Although HBO continues to keep plot details tightly under wraps, the network has confirmed that Season 4 will once again follow a group of wealthy guests and hotel staff over the course of one dramatic week. Sources close to the production suggest that the Cannes Film Festival could influence the storyline.

Filming will overlap with the festival’s 2026 dates, which run from May 13 to May 26. Given the show’s track record of incorporating real-world events into its narratives, the glamorous and high-pressure environment of Cannes would provide fertile ground for conflict, satire, and social observation.

New Cast Members and Returning Favorites

Casting for Season 4 is currently underway, with many French actors auditioning for roles. So far, the production has confirmed two new additions to the ensemble: Alexander LudwigA.J. Michalka, who previously appeared in The Goldbergs and Super 8.

Only three actors have appeared across multiple seasons of The White Lotus. Jennifer Coolidge portrayed the unforgettable Tanya McQuoid in Seasons 1 and 2. Natasha Rothwell returned as spa manager Belinda Lindsey in Seasons 1 and 3. Meanwhile, Jon Gries has played Greg Hunt in all three seasons to date.

Season 3 Success Raises Expectations

Season 3, which took place in Thailand, featured a high-profile ensemble cast that included Walton Goggins, Michelle Monaghan, Carrie Coon, and Sam Rockwell.

With Season 4 set against the sun-soaked glamour of the French Riviera, fans can expect another visually stunning and emotionally charged installment. As production moves forward, anticipation continues to grow for what may become the most luxurious season yet.
